Dessislava P. Zagorcheva

Dessie Zagorcheva is completing her doctorate in political science at Columbia University. She also holds a graduate degree in social psychology. Professor Zagorcheva specializes in international security with a focus on US foreign and defense policy, civil-military relations, decision making on the use of force, and terrorism and counterterrorism. Her articles appear in journals such as International Security, The National Interest, The Journal of Slavic Military Studies, and Parameters. Starting this fall, Professor Zagorcheva will be teaching courses on counterterrorism and US foreign policy at NYU. She has also worked as a researcher for the Council on Foreign Relations and the East-West Institute in New York. Ms. Zagorcheva speaks several languages, including Bulgarian and Russian.
